I have been WAY behind on getting things put in place for sweet little miss #2. By this time with E I think I was pretty much done with the nursery or at least on the way to being done. I am a little ashamed to say that I have done close to nothing- YIKES!! But my good friend Candace helped me get something accomplished! A few weeks ago we set out to start and finish the crib skirt and that we did.
We started with nothing done but the fabric being washed and I had NO idea where to go from there… luckily she did. We basically created it using E’s skirt as a template and adjusting as needed.
White muslin used for the piece that goes under the actual crib mattress… I took on the task of ironing everything.
E’s bedskirt- we did a lot of measuring and remeasuring and then remeasuring again. I am either going to use E’s crib or buy the same crib so we knew this skirt would work. But see what I mean about not having anything done- I don’t even know what I am doing for a crib… ugh.
The setup… before the chaos started!
Candace, thankfully took on the task of sewing. She brought all of her goodies over and did a much better job that I would’ve done and was much more precise.
During… tons of fabric- like 12 yards or something (I think I might’ve over ordered) cookies, books, raisins to keep E busy.
And finally the finished product! It turned out beautifully! You can’t really see it, but there is a pleat in the front panel with the red polka dot fabric peaking through! I love it- next we start working on the bumper!

So happy to get to help! Thanks for letting me! Can’t wait to finish it all up and see it on the crib 🙂
Hey Stephanie!
I’m excited for your family expecting baby #2! The crib skirt looks great, but how I DON’T love sewing with Candace!! She makes you do all the grunt work, while she gets the fun of actually sewing 😉 (Hi, Can – I love you) But you’re lucky she’s close by, I can’t waste another one of my precious face to face times sewing with her. And my two cents on the crib thing (even though you didn’t ask), unless E is climbing out of her crib, don’t rush her out. Leaving Anna in her crib and buying Nicholas his own was one of the best things I did for all of us. She was contained for me, and I know she took comfort in her crib too.
It looks very nice! You all did a great job!
I love the fabric!
