A party isn’t a party without a banner, in our opinion. Whether it’s the store-bought multi-colored version (a favorite of ours) or homemade, it turns a normal dinner into a celebration!

Lately I’ve enjoyed making fabric banners for birthdays. Some fabric, stamps & ink (or stencils & paint), and needle & thread are all you need to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

- Cut your fabric into strips. The length and width of the fabric depends on the size of your triangles at the top. My triangles were four inches along the top (width) and five inches from top to bottom (length). My fabric pieces were 16×5 inches for the yellow set and 18×6 inches for the blue set.
- Starch and iron your fabric so it’s sturdy and won’t fray.
- Using your ruler and a rotary cutter, cut the fabric into triangles. Simply line your ruler up with the midpoint for each triangle and cut.
- Stamp your triangles with your celebratory exclamation! (AKA “Happy Birthday!”)
- Using a thick string and large needle, stitch.
- Hang and admire!
