Well, I decided to go ahead and host a link-up and see how it goes. I may be the only one linking up for weeks or months, but I will throw it out there is case anyone wants to share 🙂
So, here are the rules:
Pick a book (can be a novel, your favorite kids book, your favorite classic, your favorite devotional, etc) that you’ve read or are currently reading and tell us about it, without spoiling it. Give us a good description or summary and tell us what you think of it.
If you’ve finished the book, give us your rating, let us know if you would recommend it or if it’s worth our time. And if you’re still in the middle of it, let us know how it’s going or if your opinion has changed since you started reading.
The grab the button and link up- title the link the name of the book you are sharing. ALSO, if you do link-up, please visit at least one other blogger that has taken the time to link-up and share. I have been a part of many link-ups where everyone links but no one visits, and I don’t want that to be this. I want this to be a place where we can get recommendations, share thoughts, discuss, enjoy all of the awesome books available for us to dive into!
So I will start with the book Matched, by Allie Condie.
Here is the description according to Good Reads:
Cassia has always
trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read,
what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen
at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he
is her ideal mate… until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an
instant before the screen fades to black.
trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read,
what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen
at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he
is her ideal mate… until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an
instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that
she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander.
But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in
love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced
with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life
she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.
I gave this book 3 1/2 stars. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I look for books that hold my attention but don’t make me exhausted by the end. I read to relax and escape a little and this book is definitely worth just that. A lot of reviewers do not like the similarities between this book and The Giver, however I haven’t read The Giver so I could care less.
It took me a while to get into it as I was coming off of a great Dystopian read and had trouble grabbing hold of this one. There are books that I want to read every word and there are books that I feel like I could skip a chapter… this was one of those, it was slow in the middle and I wanted to skip ahead and see how things progressed. However, it is well written, I liked the characters and I found the story interesting. So 3 1/2 stars it is; I will read the 2nd book in the series to see how the story continues.
If you’re looking for an easy, quick read about Dystopian society and a love triangle- here it is 🙂
Link up and share! Title your link the name of the book you are sharing! Thanks!
**Update, you can copy the text in the box before the “Good Reads Thursday” photo and paste it into your post and that will both place the image and link it back to this post.
**I’ve also decided to use the same linky each time I post so that you won’t have to search back through these posts to find a book, every week we can just add more books to the list, or give your own review on a book that someone else may have already linked 🙂

By the way, if my blog is private, is it worth it to link up?

Love this idea! I am always looking for good books! 🙂 I hope I did it right. I just copied and pasted the picture, but I see you have a link underneath the picture. Can you tell me what I should do with that? (Sorry, I am a new blogger and just learning all of this.)
