How Sweet This Is

Baby G’s Nursery- Part One!

in Create, Pregnancy and Fertility on 11/16/10

Finally! We are done with our little girls nursery. It has been mostly complete for a couple of weeks now but we needed to add a few finishing touches. We LOVE the way it turned out and are so excited to bring our little girl home. We wanted something simple and natural and I really didn’t want to deal with a theme, like butterflies or sea creatures. I wanted to pick colors that we enjoyed and just pull in elements to tie it all together.

This is what we started with! We never really did anything with this room when we first moved into our home. It is the closest room to our master bedroom and we knew it would eventually be our first nursery, so we decided to just leave it empty. Along with that, it was basically our dogs room… they would be gated in this area when we would leave the house, and because of that the carpet was left pretty much destroyed.

Our first step was to pick bedding… and a huge step it was. After a lot of going back and forth between buying something and making something we found our bedding and loved it! Once we had the bedding we were able to chose a paint color…

(it took a couple of samples to decide, but we love the one we picked)

…our good friend Andrew came over and helped us get started on the new floors

…then hubby and I took it from there. I was about 7 months pregnant in this photo but I helped with everything I could; crawling around on the floors helping the hubby measure, cut and hammer everything in. Of course the dogs were very curious!

Finally, we had a new room- complete with new paint, floors, fan and lighting!

Since we were on a roll, we went ahead and put the crib together that night as well!

From there, it was all about the details! We hadn’t had any showers yet, so we couldn’t really do a whole lot more. We were still waiting on a couple of our bigger items like the dresser, mattress and glider.

Tomorrow- the details!

I love the idea of a neutral nursery. I think that is something I would love to do one day! You have such great taste! 🙂

Thanks for reassuring me about the flu shot. The one thing I know is that up here they have the lowest vaccination rate in California, so that made me feel a little bit better because I don’t want to get sick from these crazy people! I can’t wait to see you again! Mom and Dad said maybe December? Oye baby…she’s just so comfortable in there! I have a couple days off tomorrow and thursday so maybe I could call you to chat!
