How Sweet This Is

DIY Kids Coloring Tote

in Create on 02/28/10

Now, as we all I know I don’t have kids… but should that stop me from being able to cute make super cute things! I say not! So I have started making things for my nieces, nephews, and friends & families baby showers. I will post some of the other things too, but I wanted to wait until after the shower 🙂

I saw one of these totes a while back with a friend, her daughter’s tote was smaller but her daughter was also younger and did more scribbling than drawing. My nephew has recently fallen in love with coloring and writing to people. I thought this would be the perfect “just for fun” gift for him!

I wish I could tell you exactley how I made it… but I can’t. I honestly bought a yard of fabric, fused it with some interfacing and starting sewing, folding and pressing.

I kept using the markers and notepad that I purchased to measure how big each pocket needed to be.

I think it turned out really well. I have a very small mending sewing machine, seriously bought from target for $29.99 on Black Friday. So if my sewing machine can handle it it can’t be that hard! 🙂

I also chose a super busy material for a couple of reasons: 1) you can’t really see any of my flaws and 2) if he goes out of the lines no one will know 🙂 I’ll let you know how he likes it!
