Well I am 38 weeks pregnant and we decided it was time to start getting ready for this little girl! Ha!
This pregnancy has been so different in the fact that I feel like it’s never going to end… not in a bad way, but just in a “It doesn’t feel quite real yet and I haven’t accepted that we will have another baby here soon” kind of way. I was 8 days late with E, so I don’t think I am that anxious for labor this time around because I don’t think it will happen anytime soon… So I have procrastinated- just a little…. ok- a lot. But I am ready to meet this sweet girl and E can’t wait to meet her “baby sisser”.
I did get around to packing our bags though. Here is what we have!
Baby Girl’s Bag
1. A blanket my mom made for us. It was freezing last time in the hospital so this will be perfect to wrap up in!
2. Her going home outfit.
3. Burt’s Bees Milk & Honey Lotion- because I love the smell
4. Receiving, Swaddling, and going home blankets- since it will be cold outside.
5. Hat, socks, and mittens just in case.
6. Extra sleepers, including the one E came home from the hospital in.
7. (see the last photo) A giraffe that plays a nursery rhyme.
I didn’t bring any diapers, because our hospital will provide those as well as wipes and any other small items she may need. We only have a 5-10 minute drive home so if she has a blowout on the way we can wait until we get home to change her.
Momma’s Bag for labor and post-partum
Birth Plan/Insurance Info/Hospital Info- last time I had a birth plan all typed out, this time my birth plan is get in quick, get the epidural ASAP, and get down to business!
1. Lip Balm, Headbands/ bobby pins, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, face wash, lotion, facial cleansing cloths, shampoo, conditioner, body wash.
2. Bath Towel (2 dark colored)
3. Comfy Pants, Comfy Shirt, Hoodie, slippers/Uggs for ride home
4. Extra Pants, Nursing Tank, Sports Bra, intimates for hospital stay.
5. Socks
6. Nursing cover
7. Nursing Bras
8. Nursing Pads
9. Flip Flops for shower
To Pack before walking out door:
Pillow (dark case), Hairbrush, Blowdryer, and Make-up.
E’s Trunki is packed with items for Nana and Papa’s house. First off, if you haven’t seen these Trunki’s they are SO cute and have great functionality. We love it and so does E! You can get them at Melissa and Doug.
E’s Bag:
1. Extra Diapers
2. Snacks
3. Shirts for play and nice
4. Jacket/Sweatshirt
5. PJ’s
6. Leggings/Jeans
7. Socks (shoes to be packed still)
8. Diaper Cream
Not Pictured:
Laptop with Charger, Cell Phone charged, iPod charged, Cameras (battery full, memory empty), Hard Candy, Snacks for hubby, Boppy
Hubby’s Bag
Change of clothes, Sweatshirt (he was freezing last time), PJ’s, Toiletries, Blanket (again, freezing), Pillow, Snacks, Possibly a sleeping bag. We are thinking if I have to stay 2 nights he will only stay the first night, then head home to be with E the second night so she has a little normalcy.
And a room update!
The to-do list:
Name Decal ordered
Build Crib- on back order
Place Dresser- on back order
Put Clothes Away- need dresser
Decide on Photos and Frames
Find a bedside table
Order sound machine
Make Crib- bedding is on mattress and sewed.
Place Glider
Lamp
Hook up Angel Care- need crib
Place new video monitor- need crib placed
Bring out Pack & Play, wash covers and setup in living room with changing station
Pack for Hospital- baby, mommy, daddy
Wash Carseat Cover washed and put back together, ready to be installed
Install carseat base- probably won’t do this until closer to the due date
Bring Down Swing cover is washed and put back together, needs batteries
Put Bouncer back together cover is washed and put back together, needs batteries
Rearrange bottles and sippy cups
So we still have a bit left to do, but finishing her room really depends on the crib and dresser. Once we have that we should be able to put everything together pretty quickly- but I think it will be after she is here. So we will just get everything else done before that and get it all ready to install.

How exciting! You guys are so close to bringing your sweet one home!
Dang back order! I’m so excited for you!!
Your preparedness inspires me! As soon as I return from AK next week I am jumping full force into Operation: Prepare for Twins’ Arrival mode. And eventually I will be referring to this post for tips on packing my hospital bag and the kiddo’s bag. Can’t wait for your new little one’s arrival!
