Days 3 and 4 of my trip to NYC started out very similar to days 1 and 2. A trip to Starbucks, a shuttle to the convention, a taxi back to the hotel, and finally some free time in our evenings.
Wednesday evening we decided to venture up to the 48th floor of our hotel to the restaurant called The View, and rightly so! We headed into the lounge and discovered an amazing buffet with an array of salads, cheeses, meats, pastas, breads and an additional entire buffet dedicated purely to DESSERTS! This was my kind of meal. The food was amazing!

And the 360 degree view, yes the restaurant rotates, was also incredible- such a sight to see and a wonderful and unique way to experience NYC!

As we headed to Central Park we passed this building (below), which happens to be the building where John Lennon lived, and was also killed’ Yoko Ono still lives there.

Apparently, he loved Central Park and would frequent there often.

So it was especially meaningful for the people of Liverpool to donate this bench in Central Park.

Rockefeller Center in the daytime, notice the flags have changed!

The New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street- it is actually a street, I did not know that! It is now closed off to cars and is strictly pedestrian. There is also quite a bit of security protecting the NYSE!

As we headed toward Ground Zero we noticed these roots and asked about them. Apparently they are actually roots from a tree that have been bronzed and placed here next to the Trinity Church (also where Alexander Hamilton is buried). During the 9/11 attacks people took refuge from the massive debris inside of Trinity Church. Falling wreckage from a collapsing tower knocked over a giant sycamore tree that had stood for nearly a century in the churchyard of St. Paul’s Chapel, which you can actually see from Ground Zero. Sculptor Steve Tobin used its roots as the base for a bronze sculpture that stands next to the Trinity church today.

You can see one of the towers being rebuilt in background of this photo below.

Ground Zero- it was so surreal. How do you stand and stare at a place where so many people have lost their lives and not feel overwhelmed with sadness? It was hard for me, I just couldn’t help but think about that day and all that lost their loved ones as I stared at the empty skyline. New York can rebuild, but I know they will never forget.

It was also Fleet Week in New York, so the city was covered in men and women in uniform- that was a very cool site!

New York City police on horseback!

After our tour we headed back to the hotel for some R&R and ended our night with an amazing Italian dinner and a Broadway musical! We saw Chicago, with Christie Brinkley! The show was awesome- everyone did such a wonderful job, but I would say the woman who played Velma stole the show. She was SO animated and truly captured the spirit of Velma’s character. It was such a cool experience and I was so excited to get to enjoy it!

After the show, we headed back to the hotel to pack up and get ready for our flight out the next day. I have SO many more pictures I could post but I thought I would show you the best and not make this post 400 pages long 🙂
Next post- traveling as a breastfeeding mom!
