So Monday I woke up at 2am shortly after an early morning feeding for E and got myself ready to leave her for almost 5 days!! I don’t know how I thought I would survive or how I actually survived without her, but I lived to tell about it- more on that to come. We flew out of our local airport at 6am, caught another flight in LA at 9am and were on our way. We arrived to our hotel in NYC around dinner time that evening and got settled in.
This is my hotel room- we stayed in Times Square!

Check out these elevators in our hotel! They were like little bullets… I was pretty over them by the end of the trip, I thought I might lose my breakfast a couple of times!

The next day we were off to the Javitz Center for the Book Expo!
While there I ran into the Michelin Man…

Jenny and Dean from Marcel the Shell with Shoes on– and PS that is totally her real voice! Click on the link to watch it if you haven’t seen it yet, it is SO funny!

And Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes! I got the hubby and autographed book, because he’s a big fan! Notice that I am only 5’4″ and he is not as tall as I expected him to be- for some reason I thought he would be towering over me! He was really nice though, we chatted for a bit 🙂

After a long day, we headed back to the hotel to relax a little and grabbed some dinner. This is what I came back with after day 1! Needless to say my shoulders were a little tired from carrying around the bags of books all day!
That evening we went exploring NYC!
Bryant Park

Rockefeller Center at night- notice the flags resemble all of the countries in the UN, they changed to all US flags over the weekend in honor of Memorial Day.

The Empire State Building- appropriately lit for Memorial Day!

Stay tuned tomorrow for Days 3 and 4! We took a 6 hour tour of NYC and saw just about everything there is to see- it was awesome!

Ooh – exciting trip! Loved your pictures. I went to NYC one time and loved it. I have a fantasy that Husband and I will live there for a summer one day. (one day = 25 years from now, but whatever!)
Ohhh I love your pictures of NYC!!! I’m still dreaming of visiting the city one day!
SOOOOO jealous of your book additions! I love books!
