How Sweet This Is

In Season: Honey Citrus Sugar Scrub

in Citrus and Cream, Create on 04/21/14

No matter what new veggies my weekly produce basket may contain, I can always count on a few gorgeous oranges, lemons, or grapefruits to greet me. Of course, gobbling these up will give me plenty of Vitamin C, fiber, and other nutrients, but my skin too can benefit with a sugar scrub made from these juicy fruits. Just a few basic ingredients (most of which you have in your pantry!) will give you an invigorating Honey Citrus Sugar Scrub that will leave your skin extra soft. And you’ll be happy to know that it’s so natural, you could eat it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup safflower or grape seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (raw is best)
  • 1/3 cup orange, lemon, or grapefruit juice
  • A few drops of Simply Citrus essential oil–optional, but worth it!

Instructions

Mix the sugar and oil together. Add honey and then add the juice little by little until you get the consistency you want. Add more sugar or oil as needed, as well! You get to make this just how you like a sugar scrub! A few drops of citrus essential oils will really bring out the scent, but this isn’t necessary. If you’re interested, you can check out my favorite essential oils from Edens Garden: Simply Citrus, Blood Orange, Grapefruit, Sweet Orange, or Lemon.

That’s it! You can store it in a small mason jar or container, and with a few little pieces it can be fixed up for a darling gift. (We used bakers twine and a dried orange round! Keep an eye out for the dried oranges DIY coming your way!) For an extra bit of invigoration, keep your scrub in the fridge. Enjoy!

Love it!! It should be noted that if essential oils are added, then it’s best stored in glass because essential oils eat away at plastic.

I really love the oil, Adrienne. I’ve used it for cleaning, adding to bath water, and of course this sugar scrub. We’ll actually be including it in a giveaway soon!
