I’ve always loved the idea of hosting a brunch on New Year’s Day. It seems fitting to share the excitement of a new year with family and friends while enjoying fresh coffee and delicious breakfast goodies.
This year, I made it happen, and thanks to the 10 lessons I’ve recently learned, it was relatively stress-free. (I did have to deal with cinnamon rolls not rising and baking up hard as rocks.) Our spread was a perfect balance of leftover holiday splurging and healthy resolution living. We had a yogurt parfait bar, complete with fresh fruit, homemade granola, and almonds; a breakfast quiche with egg, sausage, and veggies; scones with locally-made jam; and plenty of cheery beverages.
This is the first of new traditions I want to begin this year. What about you? Do you have any traditions you’re hoping to start in 2014? We’d love to hear them!
Brunch is always beautiful.
