How Sweet This Is

Baby G2 Nursery Update with a small rant!

in Organize and Clean, Pregnancy and Fertility on 12/13/12

We’ve made progress!! Wahoo!

Some of you may look at these pictures and say “Progress? There is nothing in that room” or “You are due in 5 weeks and you don’t have anything done!?”… yes, Mom… I know. But believe me when I say- this is progress!

If you remember, this is what this room looked like the last time I showed you a photo. The walls were white, we still had quite of bit of things that needed to be stored and moved into different rooms, and we really didn’t have anything for baby.

In the last 4 months, we have done a few things.

We painted the room a nice shade of grey to match her bedding.
We made her bedding!
We bought and hung the curtain rod, curtains and blackout panels.
We bought and put together the glider.
We bought her crib mattress

We organized a lot of things in the room.

We organized my diaper bags and her diapers- with all of the Newborns and size 1 diapers in her closet. The plastic bin at the bottom is FULL of wipes!

We washed and hung all of her clothes and folded all of her sleepers, socks and blankies- which are currently being stored in a plastic rolling drawer.

What you may notice is missing- is her crib and dresser… two very important items in her room. Well, we blame JC Penney for that!

I ordered both of those items from their website on November 12th. The next day, they called and said the crib was backordered until January 20th, which I was not happy about but could deal with- she wouldn’t sleep in her crib at first anyway. But then two or three weeks passed and I hadn’t heard anything about the dresser… so I called. And this is when they gave me this bogus non-customer friendly excuse.

They said because the crib is backordered, they hold everything else in the shipment, the dresser, so it can all ship together. Cue emotional pregnant woman about ready to jump through the phone. What!? Your website was wrong and didn’t say the item was backordered (which PS- it still doesn’t say backordered!), then you want to hold everything to save yourself the shipping cost. NOT OK. I was so mad- I was ok with the crib, but I felt like I needed the dresser to at least be able to put everything away! When I explained that this was their fault not mine and I shouldn’t be inconvenienced by it they said “Oh we are in no way trying to say this is your fault ma’am, and we apologize for the inconvenience.”…. that was is- no coupon, discount, nothing. They said I could cancel the order and reorder them separately, but that would push our crib backorder date back to the end of the line. Great, thanks for you help. Not.

So if you read all of that- thanks for listening 🙂

Moving on- still to do:
Once rec’d, put together the crib with bedding and the Angelcare monitor
Once rec’d, put together the dresser and put all of her clothes away
Order her room decals
Put up her room decals
Decide on wall art, photos, frames
Decide on shelves, put up shelves
Put together side table
Order frame to make hairbow holder and make hairbow holder

I am sure there is more, but that’s all I can think of for now! Hopefully we will update this list soon- we are running out of time!

Oh girl. Honestly, I feel the same things going through this pregnancy about getting the room ready. I think Callyn’s room might have been done (or close) by this point in my pregnancy and here I am, entering the 3rd tri and haven’t even STARTED anything on the nursery. Ok, that’s a lie-I bought curtains-woohoo! Haha!
That stinks about the furniture, but at least you don’t need it right away. I’m sure it still won’t feel complete until you have it though 🙁

I think you’re doing great! But yeah, bummer on the furniture – JCP’s customer service has gone downhill the last few years. I have to say that I love your selection of diaper bags in the closet. It has never occurred to me to have more than one, like purses. 🙂 Funny timing on this post of yours; I woke up at 4am this morning in a nesting panic, realizing I don’t even know where to start in cleaning out my guest room in order to start the nursery. I’ve gotta get crackin!

Sheesh, how irritating about the furniture order! We had a situation with Wyatt’s toddler bed where they lost it, and I was upset because I didn’t know how long it would take to transition him to it and I couldn’t start on anything else until we had it – so I had to reorder it, and I asked them to put a rush on the next one and they were pretty accommodating – that was from Walmart. They wouldn’t just ship the dresser separately anyway since there was obviously a misunderstanding? You think they’d try to be more helpful!

That is SO SO annoying about the furniture!! Can you cancel the order and order the furniture through somewhere else? What horrible customer service!!
