This week I am sharing Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Here is the summary from Good Reads:

In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

I really liked this book. I read it right after reading Hunger Games, so it’s been a couple of months, which may part of the reason I can’t recall specific details for you, but still I know I liked it! I thought it was a great, quick, easy, interesting read. The author was twenty-one when she started writing it for a college paper, which I think is pretty amazing in itself.
This is a typical dystopian young adult book. It has similarities to both Matched and the Hunger Games, but the thing that I liked about this particular book is the Veronica Roth is a Christian, and there are bits and pieces of her faith weaved into the book. Unlike the Hunger Games, which has no faith and feels pretty hopeless by the end, Divergent has hope and the character does think of God throughout her journey.
I liked the main character of the book and enjoyed the love story. I will say that there are parts of the plot and history of their society that don’t make a lot of sense, but honestly, I don’t care. I will say again that I don’t read for anything other than pure entertainment, and this book was great for just that!
If you’re looking for a quick (I read it in just a few days), easy read and enjoy dystopian YA books, pick this one up! For what I like to read, this is 4-5 stars  🙂 And the second of the trilogy comes out in May- wahoo!
**I’ve also decided to use the same
linky each time I post so that you won’t have to search back through
these posts to find a book, every week we can just add more books to the
list, or give your own review on a book that someone else may have
already linked 🙂

For a minute I was getting really jealous that you have time to read so many books (but lets be real – I could make time by cutting out tv time so that’s ridiculous). But since you read it a while ago it made me feel a wee bit better.

    Thanks for the review!

Haha! Yes, this one was read a couple months back! Some weeks I will read every night and finish a book within a couple of days, and some weeks it takes me a couple of weeks to actually finish because I get distracted somewhere in the middle. It also depends on the read, I just couldn’t put this book down!

I didn’t realize you were doing a book review link-up Stephanie! I’ll have to add the review I wrote last week. This book you mentioned sounds good!
